Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the second busiest airport in the Philippines, has partnered with GrayMatter to implement its flagship non-aeronautical revenue and retail performance platform StoreSense. MCIA, one of the three airports in the Philippines managed by the Aboitiz Group, has robust growth plans, aiming to expand its capacity to 18 million passengers by 2028. This project was awarded to GrayMatter earlier this year after a competitive bidding process and successfully went live in the third quarter of 2025.

With this deployment, MCIA has undergone a digital transformation of its retail ecosystem, on-boarding 58 brands, 119 stores, and 161 points of sale across the airport. Some of the prominent concessionaires now utilizing StoreSense include SSP, Duty Free Philippines, Lulu Money, Curex, SM Retail, Starbucks, and Nomad.

StoreSense seamlessly integrates with MCIA’s core operational systems including Collins (AODB); integration is currently in progress with the applicable SAP modules, including SAP RE for pushing the sales data after reconciliation and mapping of the revenue against the categories. StoreSense captures real-time sales data across a variety of POS and printers, applies contract rules for accurate income computation across product categories, enabling timely billing with zero revenue leakage through precise reconciliation. StoreSense also provides analytics including insightful executive dashboards and detailed reports that help airport teams optimize retail performance and enhance passenger experience.

Nabil RasheedNabil Rasheed, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, said: “MCIA is committed to strengthening our commercial ecosystem by enabling transparency, efficiency, and world-class service delivery for our retail partners. StoreSense is a critical enabler in this journey, giving us real-time sales visibility and empowering concessionaires with data-driven insights to improve performance. Although, we went live with StoreSense recently, we have already gleaned various insights that have been used to drive concessionaire performance.”

Vikas GuptaVikas Gupta, Founder and CEO, GrayMatter, added:
“We are delighted to partner with Mactan-Cebu International Airport on this vital digital transformation initiative. StoreSense is designed to help airports maximize non-aeronautical revenue and enhance operational agility. We are proud to support MCIA as they enhance their commercial capabilities and elevate the passenger retail experience.”
